Winter Wedding at Langley Castle – Natalie and Ben

Langley Castle near Hexham in Northumberland is a beautiful venue.  However, with its thick stone walls, roaring fires and woodland surroundings it takes on a beauty of its own in the Winter.  I can’t believe that it was just over a year ago that I was delivering the flowers for Natalie and Ben’s wedding.  I am sat writing this with the sun streaming through the windows, although not particularly warm. Last year Northumberland was thick of snow.  This was the prefect backdrop for Natalie and Ben’s wedding at Langley Castle in Northumberland. The thick unspoilt snow surrounding Langley Castle just matched this castle wedding perfectly, it was as if it had been ordered in.langley castle wedding in the winter

Natalie and Ben were from the North West of England and were having an intimate wedding with just close family and friends.  Choosing Langley Castle allowed them to use the new glass extension, which considering the picture postcard surrounding and the white blanket of snow was the perfect view for this January wedding.

Natalie had long black hair and pale skin, so she choose a cherry red theme for her wedding, which was ideal for her colouring ideal.

When we met and looked through my books of previous weddings Natalie loved the bouquets of Grand Prix roses.  However, she preferred a bouquet without any foliage but liked a little grass in the bouquets.  Natalie showed me a sample of fabric of her bridesmaids dresses and I agreed that the Grand Prix red rose would be best.  She also showed me a picture of her wedding dress.  I recommended an all rose Grand Prix bouquet with grass loops and diamond pins to reflect the diamond detail in her dress.

As there was no foliage in the bridal bouquets, for the buttonholes I recommended that we have a Grand Prix rose with a grass loop for the groom and similar for the groomsmen, but using an Avalanche rose instead.

In the reception room all the guests would be sat round one large table, so Natalie wanted to incorporate candles into table centres.  I recommended that we use one large goldfish bowl with a candle in the centre surrounded by Grand Prix roses with grasses around the edge of the bowl on top of mirror plate. On either side of the bowl would be two smaller bowls with grasses and rose petals surrounding a candle.  Linking the 3 bowls, I sprinkled the red rose petals and tea lights.  We would also use a goldfish bowl on the registrar’s table, into which Natalie could place her bouquet whilst she was getting married.  This would mean that her bouquet could double up as a table decoration.

To complement the wedding flowers Natalie had chosen a plain white, chocolate wedding cake and asked me to decorate it with just a couple of red Grand Prix roses on the top.  Whilst very simple the effect was beautiful and complemented both the simplicity of this modern reception room and the bride’s bouquet.wedding at langley castle hexham northumberland

As I arrived at the wedding venue, I met Alan Mason whom Natalie and Ben had chosen as their wedding photographer.  Alan very kindly provided these fantastic photographs of their wedding flowers.  From the photos Alan sent it is clear both Natalie and Ben had a great day in their Winter castle.

I was just looking for this info for some time. After 6 hours of continuous Googleing, finally I got it in your website. I wonder what is the lack of Google strategy that don’t rank this kind of informative sites in top of the list. Normally the top sites are full of garbage.
